Ski area Winterberg
Winterberg is a tourist town in the west of Germany, which attracts many holidaymakers in both summer and winter. Winterberg is located in Hochsauerland (the highest mountain range in the Sauerland) at an altitude of 668 metres. In winter, Winterberg is a true skiing paradise. The Winterberg ski area was named 'Skiliftkarussell Winterberg'. It is a very well-known ski region with the most modern infrastructure in which huge investments have been made in recent years. Winterberg is only a two-hour drive from the Dutch-German border and is therefore very popular with Dutch winter sports enthusiasts.
Lifts and slopes
Skiliftkarussell Winterberg has 26 ski lifts, including modern chair lifts for 4 to 8 people, some drag lifts, the latest conveyor belts and toboggan lifts. The Skiliftkarussell consists of 7 different sub-areas that are all connected to 1 ski area:

There are various ski huts spread over the ski area, where you can enjoy a warming meal or cozy après-ski. In most ski huts you will find self-service and you will find a suitable dish for a relatively low price. You can certainly find fries, frikandellen, bratwurst, schnitzels, soup and spaghetti.
Ski lessons and schools Winterberg
You will find more than enough ski schools in and around Winterberg. Some schools also allow you to enroll in private lessons. One of the most famous ski schools is Skischule Winterberg, where you can go for regular ski lessons, alpine skiing and snowboarding. Of course, a distinction is made between beginners and advanced. Students from the age of 5 are welcome. Small children are taught in a so-called children's area, where the smallest learn to ski in a completely safe way and where the emphasis is on skiing fun. The children's area has a conveyor belt with which the young skiers can go back up after the descent.
Ski rental Winterberg
If you do not have your own ski equipment, you can rent skis at various places in and around Winterberg. At almost every entrance to a ski area and in the town of Winterberg itself you will find various shops where you can obtain the necessary winter sports equipment. You do well to compare the prices first. To rent a ski set for one day, you pay an average of € 15 to € 19. Renting a snowboard set will cost you 19€ to 24€. Renting a helmet will cost you 2.5€ to 5€ per day. With most providers it pays to book online. You often get a discount of up to 10% and you are assured of your equipment.
Evening skiing Winterberg; Fluent skiing
If you can't get enough of skiing during the day, you can continue skiing in the evening on many slopes in Winterberg. These slopes are equipped with artificial light. The Skiliftkarussell in Winterberg is even the largest connected ski area with illuminated ski routes in West Germany. You will find 14 floodlit slopes with a total length of 8 kilometers. With sufficient snow, night skiing takes place every Tuesday and Friday evening. You have to remember to buy an extra ski pass for night skiing, because the day passes are not valid in the evening.
Apres ski Winterberg
Winterberg is known for its lively après-ski. In various ski huts people go crazy in the evening. One of the most famous places where the Dutch gather at the end of the afternoon to fully participate in the après-ski is the Brabander Skihütte. Parties are regularly organized here where it gets noisy. For the more traditional après-ski you should go to Alm Salettl, located next to the Rauher Busch chairlift. In suitable weather conditions, the roof of the building can be opened. The most famous hits are sung here until late in the evening. Möppi's Hütte or also called Skihütte Pöppenberg is also a famous center of après-ski. Möppi's Hütte is a cozy authentic ski hut with a fireplace. If you want to party all night on Friday and Saturday evening, you should go to the Tenne, one of the oldest and most popular discotheques in the Sauerland. Dancing, headbanging or drinking: it's all possible here.
